Ring Tones

I'm wondering if I'm the only one in the entire world that finds this enormously annoying.
These fucking ring-tones on cell phones. You can have what ever sound you want on your cell phone, different sounds, like a jet taking off, a helicopter, your wedding song... A yak farting.
There's a guy I know who has a goddamn fire engine siren as his ringtone. The last thing I want to hear is a goddamn siren. I hate sirens. They give me a headache. I do not want to hear one when someone calls me. I don't want my phone to sound like anything but a damn phone ringing.
"excuse me, but did a yak just fart?"
"No, that was my phone..."
Quit it with these annoying fucking ringtones already! I'm warning you! I've got my rifle cleaned, oiled and loaded...

I would have thought that was illegal. My ringtone is a recording of a real phone ringing. I had to download it.

Sorry Tom! I am totally one of those people who has a song for my ring tone.

I have two. The Sportscenter theme song and the intro music for Monday Night Football.

I may go download another that I heard recently. Remember Public Enemy, the rap group from the 80's? There is a ring tone of Flavor Flav - the guy who always wore the clock - doing his trademark "yeah, boys" (as seen in the Miller Lite courtroom commercial).

I know it's corny / stupid / dorky / insert-descriptive-statement-here, but I find it amusing.

I SO AGREE! We have signs POSTED on the door that leads back to the surgical arena that says NO CELL PHONES BEYOND THIS POINT. And don'tcha know some assholes actually take calls while they're being seen!!!!!!

I'm guilty as well, I have a simon and garfunkle song for a ring tone. I am very conscious of where I'm at and if it is appropriate or not for the phone to be going off.

I hate cell phones in general and ring tones just make it worse. I am on call with my job 24/7 and a cell phone for me is just an extention of my office-I hate them all!!!!!!!

I'm with Dirk: I just downloaded a ringtone of a real phone. Couldn't find one that came with my phone that wasn't annoying. Have to confess, though, I was a bit miffed that my phone wouldn't accept the ringtone of Robin Williams yelling, "Good Morning Vietnam!" :)

Cool, older songs that show your taste in music don't bug me. But I can't stand the sound of the obnoxious crap that passes as pop music emanating from people's purses and backpacks.

But in the interest of full disclosure, my phone dances the samba when it's just any-old-body, and sings Opera at me (Nessun Dorma) when it's my husband. I don't particularly care for either one, but my phone doesn't let you download other stuff and the plain rings are too shrill.

Guilty: I have R. Kelly's "Ignition Remix" as my ring.
But sirens is taking it way too far for me and I think that should be illegal...huh.

Hey Tom,

Just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry if you think I've been ignoring you when you IM. My computer is always on line because my hubby works off of it sometimes. And everytime you've IM'd me, I haven't been on. I just see the left over message hours later.

So no, I'm not up early in the a.m. I get about an hour to check on things a few times a week. But if I was on when you IM'd me, you'd better believe we'd be "shootin' the shit." :-)

Take care

You know I was standing next to someone who had my ring tone on their phone. It sort of freaks you out as well. But I hate the voice, like the Sprint incoming call, Yikes. Or the ones people can record on their own phone and then set up as their own ring tone. It is like they are throwing their voices. Yikes again.

Wow, tell us how you really feel!!! LOL.... It doesn't really bother me any, but I can see where some could be annoying.

I don't have a cell phone, but (and I'm sorry to admit this and hopefully you won't think less of me) I can't wait to get one so I can assign specific songs to specific people.

I did see a ring tone commercial with one saying, "Ho on line one." I thought it was hilarious.
